For a super smooth look I usually spend twenty to thirty minutes in a fairly hot bath to soften the hair. Then I jump straight into the shower and quickly apply the shaving gel. (Foam is not as good). Use a new blade each time and a good quality razor. First shave in the direction of the hair growth, then for a super smooth feel shave the opposite way. Turn the shower to its coldest setting and cool the area quickly (it's actually very refreshing and not as bad as it sounds). A small hand mirror is really useful to check those hard to see areas. You can also place it on the floor and put your foot on the basin or squat over it to get at those hard to reach places.
Pat the area dry with a fresh towel and immediately apply a good quality moisturiser. If possible do not cover the area for a few hours if to let your skin breath. Reapply the moisturiser about four hours later.
